Regrettably, this novella offered no new insight into Aaron's life as a priest. Most of the book is predictable. A plus is that it sticks close to Scripture. Aaron was depicted as a tired, confused and wanting old man. I was hoping the author gave him energy and a dynamic personality. But she did not. It is still an okay book to read but the pace is deadly slow at times. Too much narration of Aaron's inner thoughts. I was hoping to see how he interacted with the people through dialogue. Aaron appears to be a tag alone who believes God thinks lesser of him than he does of Moses. As God's chosen priest, I believe the author could have injected more life into this character and also gave him a family life. It seemed Aaron was around people, but never with people.

I love all of Francine Rivers books. But, especially the ones she has written based upon biblical characters. She takes a biblical character and expands the story based upon historical facts. I love being able to get a better glimpse of what things might have been like for that person. It really helps you be able to get the full picture on what that person probably went through. I couldn't say enough!
Francine Rivers books are always good
Another Francine Rivers HIT. This is a master writer of Christian history.
This novella, by Francine Rivers is the best account (other than the Bible!) of the Exodus of Egypt. She brings to life the trials and tribulations, squawking and squalling people that made up the Hebrew Nation at a time when their lives where in utter turmoil. Aaron at first comes across as the little brother who never got his way, and ends up as the encourager to Moses and the Hebrew people. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and could not put it down. The Bible study that accompanies this is also an excellent tool to use for groups.
This is yet another fabulous story by Francine Rivers! It's 100% Biblical and will give you new perspectives on Bible stories you may have heard your entire life. Read every book by her - guaranteed blessings!
This book was very good read, but it is FICTION.

This was the first in the series.
These are written from the second in charge (2IC) perspective.
We mostly look at this portion of scripture from the perspective of Moses.

1. Aaron to Moses
2. Caleb to Joshua
3. Jonathan to David

They are all worth your time
While beginning this book I felt like I was reading scripture. As historical fiction I was expecting more detailed description. Sometimes I felt like i was left hanging. But toward the middle/end I was caught up in the book especially when reading about the shekinah glory of the Lord in the cloud.
